Exploding Kittens spent a lot of time in the limelight in 2015.
When Matthew Inman, the creator of the online comic â âThe Oatmealâ wanted to launch a new game called âExploding Kittensâ, he set up a Kickstarter account asking for $10,000!

But the fans didnât stop there. In minutes the goal was reached, and within 1 day, the funding had reached over $1 million. Within a few days after that, and 22 days still to go, the funding reached an outstanding $4.2 million â making it officially the most backed Kickstarter account in history.

Matthew described âExploding Kittensâ as a game "for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats," It is a take on Russian roulette, with players drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten card, losing the game.
At the start of 2016, âExploding Kittensâ came back in to the lime light once more as it announced the release of the iOS version (with Android coming âsoonâ). The app currently costs $1.99 and for a limited time only, all the in-app purchases are completely free.
Only time will tell whether the release of the iOS app can be anywhere near as powerful as itâs Kickstarter funding project.
